South African Library for the Blind (SALB) – 12-Month Internship Opportunity
The South African Library for the Blind (SALB) invites unemployed individuals to apply for a 12-month Internship Programme to gain valuable technical experience and contribute to a meaningful cause.
Internship Details
- Position: Internship Programme
- Duration: 12 months
- Remuneration: R85,887 per annum (CTC)
- Location: Technical Services Section, Makhanda, Eastern Cape
- Closing Date: 21 March 2025 (16:00 PM)
This initiative, supported by the Mpumalanga Provincial Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture, aligns with national efforts to address unemployment, particularly among youth, women, and persons with disabilities.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria: ✅ South African citizen
✅ Grade 12 (Matric) qualification
✅ Possess an N6 (or higher qualification) in:
- Engineering
- Electronics
- Electrical
- Fitting & Turning
- Boilermaking
✅ Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written)
✅ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
✅ Good technical aptitude, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
✅ Problem-solving skills will be advantageous
Key Responsibilities
Interns will be placed in the Technical Services Section and gain hands-on experience in various technical and administrative tasks, including:
🔹 Player Repair & Maintenance: Assist with troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of specialized audio players used by SALB members.
🔹 Technical Support: Provide basic assistance and support in technical functions.
🔹 Administrative Functions: Handle documentation, record-keeping, and administrative tasks.
🔹 Inventory Management: Track and manage technical equipment and spare parts.
🔹 Health & Safety Compliance: Gain exposure to workplace safety protocols and assist with compliance.
🔹 General Support: Participate in other operational support tasks as required.
